NEMO-Tools at the Interreg IPA Adrion Project SAMESEA

On January 28, 2025, the NEMO-Tools project was presented at the round table event of the SAMESEA project, held at the Archipelagos Research Base in Agios Konstantinos, Samos, Greece. This event brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss marine megafauna monitoring, stranding events, and sea turtle nesting site assessments in the Adriatic and Ionian Seas.

Professor Antonios Mazaris from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki contributed to Session 2: Monitoring of Stranding Events & Sites Suitable for Nesting of Sea Turtles, where he shared insights from the NEMO-Tools project. His presentation highlighted innovative monitoring protocols developed for assessing stranding events and habitat selection, as well as the impacts of human activities on marine biodiversity. Through data-driven methodologies and modern technologies, NEMO-Tools provides valuable tools for understanding and mitigating threats to marine species in the region.

The participation of NEMO-Tools in the SAMESEA round table reinforced the importance of collaboration in marine conservation efforts. By integrating knowledge from multiple projects, stakeholders can enhance monitoring frameworks, improve response strategies, and ensure more effective protection of vulnerable marine ecosystems. The discussions at the event underscored the need for continued cooperation and innovation in addressing emerging challenges in marine biodiversity conservation.
